Assistant Manager

Job Description

Assistant Manager, Operations - 1 (Mandatory Hospital/Healthcare experience)

Key Responsibilities:
1. Operations Management:
o Oversee the day-to-day operational activities of the hospital, ensuring
that departments function smoothly and efficiently.
o Coordinate with department heads to ensure proper staffing, resources,
and workflow to meet patient care needs.
o Monitor and optimize hospital operations, including patient admissions,
scheduling, discharge processes, and supply chain management.
o Implement and maintain hospital policies, procedures, and protocols to
ensure safety, compliance, and efficiency.

2. Staff Management:
o Lead, mentor, and supervise non-clinical staff, ensuring high levels of
performance and accountability.
o Work closely with human resources to recruit, train, and evaluate staff.
o Address personnel issues such as performance reviews, conflict
resolution, and professional development.

3. Financial and Budgetary Oversight:
o Assist in budget planning and monitoring financial performance against
budgets.
o Control costs by optimizing the use of hospital resources, including
equipment, supplies, and labour.

o Identify opportunities for cost savings and implement efficiency
improvements without compromising the quality of care.

4. Patient Experience and Satisfaction:
o Ensure high standards of patient care and service quality.
o Monitor patient satisfaction and implement strategies to improve the
patient experience.
o Actively respond to and resolve patient complaints and operational
issues.

5. Regulatory Compliance:
o Ensure hospital operations comply with healthcare regulations, safety
standards, and accreditation requirements.
o Prepare for and participate in hospital inspections, audits, and
accreditation processes.
o Stay updated on healthcare regulations and ensure compliance with all
legal and governmental guidelines.


6. Facilities and Equipment Management:
o Oversee the maintenance and security of hospital facilities, equipment,
and infrastructure.
o Collaborate with the facilities team to ensure a safe and efficient physical
environment for patients and staff.
o Plan for the upgrading and replacement of hospital equipment as
necessary.


7. Quality Improvement:
o Lead initiatives for continuous improvement in hospital processes,
including patient flow, resource management, and service delivery.
o Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and create action plans for
underperforming areas.
o Work with clinical leadership to integrate operational improvements with
clinical care improvements.


8. Stakeholder Management:
o Act as a liaison between the hospital administration, medical staff, and
other departments to ensure smooth communication and collaboration.

o Work with external vendors, suppliers, and partners to ensure quality
services and contracts are in place.
o Collaborate with the marketing and communications teams to enhance
the hospital’s visibility and community engagement.

9. Emergency Planning and Risk Management:
o Develop and implement emergency response plans to ensure operational
continuity during crises.
o Identify risks and develop strategies to mitigate operational challenges.

Education/Experience

Qualifications:


• Education: Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business
management, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Experience: 2+ years of experience in healthcare operations management or a
similar role.


Skills and Competencies:
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Strong understanding of healthcare operations, regulations, and compliance.
• Proficiency in financial management, budgeting, and resource allocation.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
