Become a superstar recruiter with OTG

Do you recruit people? Here’s the value OTG brings to your recruitment processes

  1. Saves you money: Let us say you conduct 10 interviews a day. With OTG, a process that took 240 minutes of your time daily will only take 30 minutes of your time. It saves you 5250 minutes per month and 63000 minutes of time saved per year which is equivalent to 1050 manhours saved/ year per recruiter. Assuming OTG is leveraged by 2 recruiters per company, it saves you 2100 hours/year. Now, translate that to the financial saving it can bring to your organization.
  2. It improves efficiency. Let’s face it, pre-screening candidates are boring & it takes most of the energy out of your everyday. How about we take out this boring work from your work life. Wouldn’t that be awesome?
  3. Due to the hectic schedules we have in recruitment, even the best of us miss out on some candidates. It might be due to some CV that was shared on email or a cold call from a Jobseeker we received a month back. Now, keep all your database at 1 place & never miss out on candidates. Also, multiple recruiters can manage their data centrally. With OTG, never miss out on any Jobseeker
  4. Saves you the hassle of coordinating with potential aspirants. Automated interviews can be given at any time of the day(by Job seekers) which get reflected in real-time in employers dashboard. Moreover, these interviews can be evaluated anytime from anywhere by the recruitment manager. Just plug in your earphones to your mobile/desktop/laptop & start hiring.

About us: Recruitment has been a complex problem in the 20th century. With our entry in the start-up era, both employees and organizations have become more dynamic in nature which has complicated recruitment even more. We are not scared to say that all those who have tried this space earlier have failed and yet we are confident of our efforts. We have a simple vision
1. Easy Job search for Jobseekers
2. Best Fit candidates for the employers
Our product: What if we include functionalities of Linkedin & Naukri? What if we try & quantify each skill mentioned in every individual’s profile. Does that scare that, already? Now, add the thrills of Clash of Clans to gamify recruitment over Social Networks!!
Our Journey: Back in 2013, Vaibhav worked on Adaptive Test Algorithm(ATA) with his friends from IIT Guwahati. With assumptions, theories & rough mathematical simulations, we release the first version of ATA. We try to fit different pieces of the puzzles together, Zigsaw is created. Beta testing is done in NIT Surathkal, MNIT & NIT Kurukshetra. In 2014, Vaibhav handpicks the first batch of interns from IIT Roorkee & JECRC to study case scenarios for test algorithm. Product matures with engineering & MBA interns. With time, the focus starts to shift from ATA to its application hence recruitment starts becoming a major part of what we do at Zigsaw. In 2015, The first-ever full-time team of Zigsaw is built from engineers from IIT BHU, IIT Roorkee, and Techno NJR. Meanwhile, Vaibhav quits his full-time Job as an HR Manager at Tata Power. In 6 months, we release 3 beta versions of Zigzobs (our Job portal), each one better than the last in terms of application. We start reaching out to more employers and collect their feedback aggressively. In early 2016, We start focussing on events. Interns from IIT Kanpur, NIT Surat, and IIT Madras help us conduct our first Internship Festival with 13 companies. Maiden edition of the Udaipur Job Festival is conducted in February 2016 with 11 companies. Things are darkest before the dawn & when we look back, it is these times that defined our character. We continue moving forward and conduct Zigsaw Job carnival 1.0 with 27 companies. In July 2016, we start receiving some early traction and our efforts are recognized by Rajasthan Patrika. People are getting interested now. Meanwhile, another offline/online internship festival is conducted with 18 companies including Urban Clap. Interns from IIT BHU, BITS, TAPMI & IIIT take the product to the next level and zigzobs 4.0 is released. Meanwhile, our clientele grows beyond Udaipur and we conduct Zigsaw Job Carnival 2.0 with 276 Job openings. In December 2016, things are starting to fall in place and we start to focus on AI to sort Job applications. We release OTG to improve recruiter efficiency by 800% and enabling Job seekers & Job providers to take the interview on the go. Our efforts are started to get noticed. We get covered by Yourstory and Networked India. Meanwhile, we become the quizzing partner of IIM Udaipur. In April 2017, we conduct Udaipur Job Festival 2.0. The 7th version of Zigzobs is in production & it should hit the roads in May end.
We are growing & growing fast. By December 2017, We would want to set up offices in Jaipur, Indore, Ahmedabad, and Surat. By end of 2018, we want to grow to 25 cities. This is only possible when we work with like-minded people and build the solution in the recruitment world. The problem we are solving is simple: There are 3 Lakh Jobs & 30 Lakh Job seekers in India but not even a single platform that connects them without ifs & buts. We want to be that platform. Would you like to be a part of our growth journey?
If your dreams do not scare you, they are not big enough – Ellen Johnson Sirleaf

In a conference that concluded at Abudhabi recently, Al-Qaeda’s board of directors unanimously decided to bring in more diversity in terms of non-muslim recruits. This is taken as a very positive move towards growth and is suspected to have been inspired from the Tata’s Diversity & Inclusion initiative. Meanwhile, Patels and Grujars have decided to join hands and asked for an 8.33% reservation in Al-Qaeda. The Al-Qaeda chief also agreed that it would be wise to hire engineers which can come at better ROI due to widespread unemployment amongst them. Moreover, he also looked positive in raising the 341st round of funding to burn cash faster than some of the biggest names of the Indian start-up sector. He also added that Lalu’s win in Bihar is heralding the Ache Din for its plan to disrupt growth in India.

    On the Go Job interviews

We started our Journey of #RevolutionizingRecruitment in 2014 and have always tried to constantly better our offerings for both Job seekers and Job Providers. Our focus to constantly better our product offerings has been our greatest strengths that have allowed us to work with companies like UBER, Urban Clap, Pagalguy.com, GOR, Razorpay to name a few. In a recent interaction with one of our clients, we realized that the biggest challenge HR Managers face is of managing their time amidst coordinating and conducting Job interviews. On further research, we noticed that almost 85% of the interviews conducted following a similar pattern. A typical Job interview goes like
    1. Ice breaker Questions: Tell me something about yourself
    2. Job-specific questions: What value do you think you can add to the advertised position? How do your acquired skills make you a fit for this role?  Why do you think you will be a fit for this role? etc.
    3. Job essentials and Attitude Check: This Job role would be challenging. Do you think you will be able to handle the pressure? This Job role would require you to work on the field. Would you be comfortable?
If we look at the core of hiring, it basically happens when you need additional resources to handle the current work deliverable. So, don’t we amplify our time-crunch when we dedicate 2-3 hours on daily basis for hiring? This got us thinking if 85% of interviews follow the exact same pattern, why not built a solution to save time for employers.
Bingo… We are here with our OTG telephonic interview solution. Zigsaw is glad to have launched On-the-go Job interviews service with the launch of the 3rd version of Zigzobs.
    How does it work?
    1. While posting any Job on Zigzobs, you mention 3 questions that you would typically ask in any Job interview.
    2. While applying, Job seekers would be asked these 3 questions.
    3. Job seekers will be required to call a specific number (at any time of their convenience, available 24 X 7) providing their brief bio and the answers to the 3 questions that an interviewer would typically ask in a Job interview.
    4. These answers are recorded and are available for Job providers to listen to in View Jobs –>> View applications tab in their employer dashboard?
OTG advantage: A dedicated Recruitment manager does 15-20 interviews a day. With OTG, a recruitment manager can conduct 20 interviews every hour, making him 800% more efficient. This amounts to 7 manhours/ day and 175 manhours/month. You can decide for yourself the value this service brings for you by saving 175 manhours per month of your recruitment manager.

    • Save the hassle of coordinating with potential aspirants. Automated interviews can be given at any time of the day which gets reflected in real-time in employers dashboard
    • These interviews can be evaluated anytime from anywhere by the recruitment manager

Resume Writing Tips, Resume formatting tips and things to avoid in a Resume with sample – Practical 2 minute guide to create a Superstar Resume

In the professional field, your resume is the most relevant and important document. It is your identity in a professional field. A resume is something that we keep on building or updating throughout our life. Most of the students or even qualified professionals face problems building up a great resume. Even if some people build a resume the resume is not up to the mark or great enough for the companies to consider it. Here are some quick & practical Resume Writing Tips to create a resume that helps you bag the Job of your choice. The article also includes a quick guide to format resumes

One must know that a company has hundreds or thousands of resumes in front of it to select its employee. It is you who need to format your resume in the correct format and present it in a manner that it must stand out from the rest of the resumes.

3 critical things to keep in mind while creating a resume in Hindi – 2 mins

So how to build a great resume? How to make your resume be noticed by the employer? Below you would find some tips and suggestions that you may follow to make your resume stand out from the rest of them. Here are some tips for Making a resume that gets you the Job

7 Key Elements of your resume

    • Start with career objective: This is where you sell yourself. It should be crisp, clear, and inspiring. Ideally should not be more than 2 short lines. Make sure that it is in sync with the job you are applying for. Example: I am an enthusiastic HR generalist looking out for challenging roles that could bring out the best in me. If your objective matches the job profile then your chances of being hired increase. But try not to boast yourself or your objectives as this gives a negative impression. Always try and mention your objective as what is your motive in life.
    • Educational Background: An employer would be more concerned about your skills, than the college you come from unless you come from IIT’s, IIM’s or NITs. An ideal way to express this would be in a 4 X N table
    • Talk about skills: This would be a part which the employer is most concerned about. Write your skills in a concise way, ideally 3-5 Write skills that relate to the job you are applying for. “The more the merrier” does not hold correct here. Writing too many skills might weigh down the core skills you would want to shout out in your resume
    • Experience: Start objectively. Where? when? What was your role? Change line and Brag about your role here. End with your key takeaways from these assignments. What an employer is more interested in is what did you learn in these assignments and how have you grown as an individual during this. Learn the functional & behavioral skills you acquired during each role. Even better if you can give numbers here.Example:
Worked as Learning & Development-Lead at Tata Power.
Tata Power is the largest integrated power company in India. CGPL Mundra boasts itself of being India’s first 800MW supercritical unit. Being the first of its kind, the technology used is by far superior to other Power Plants in India. While the workforce is a specialist in what they do, it is necessary to grow that knowledge to upkeep with the best practices. Also, at the same time conserving the knowledge that we have and effectively passing the baton to the next breed of technocrats. I was responsible for single-handedly consulting, identifying, planning, analyzing, and executing training at CGPL. My role included Coordination with line managers & HOD’s to ensure maximum value of programs to participants. Training Need compliance Index of 91% (target 80%) was achieved while maintaining a Training Effectiveness Index of 83% (target 75%).

Key Takeaways: Resource Planning Skills and Execution Skills. My Negotiation & Interpersonal Skills across functions helped me over-deliver on my targets while helping others achieve theirs. Coordination with Top Management to formulate training needs in-line with the vision of the organization.

    • Futuristic Approach: Your academic expertise, work experience should outline a story and you should be able to explain why you did what you did. Nothing beats a narrative. They should also converge towards the current job opening that you are applying to. Underplay less relevant experiences, highlight more similar roles & achievements in that role.
    • Achievements: Write 1-2 achievements for each assignment you have undertaken. This shows that you have been a performer in each role you have undertaken and can deliver even in your next assignment. It is not about what you say, but how you say that makes all the difference
    • End with hobbies: Hobbies reflect that you are more than what you have done at the professional level. They add definite value to your personality. Ideally, between 2-3, a recruiter would not usually judge you on your hobbies. But here are 2-3 words in your resume that can help you build a personal repo with the recruiter. Use them wisely.

    Resume Writing: Tips & Tricks

    • Don’t write what you don’t know or things you haven’t done. There are 2 things that can happen when you write things you haven’t done or said more than what you have done.
      • The interviewer cross-questions you about your work-experience and sees right through it. Your interview ends here!!
      • The worse that could happen is that they do not find out. Now, they would ever expect from you and hence you would under-deliver in your role. This is a loss-loss situation for everyone
    • Right keywords: Resumes these days are digitally managed and HR managers search through them as and when required. The right combination of keywords would ensure that your resume pops up right at the top whenever you want it to. Try to use keywords that appeared in the job description. By doing this the chances of you getting selected increase as preliminary screening in most cases is done by machine these days. But again do not boast.
    • Write only positives. We, as humans make more subconscious decisions than conscious ones. Using negatives in the resume might reduce your chances of making through the cut. For example: Don’t write, I did not do A; instead, write, I was more focused on B than A
    • Exclude personal details: Don’t include your personal details in your resume. An interviewer is concerned about the skills you have. He would be least interested in what your father did or brother does or if your mother is a home-maker. He is interviewing you for the skills you have and would like to understand more of what value do you bring to the table.
    • Mention your Objective: Always try and mention your objective as what is your motive in life. If your objective matches the job profile then your chances of being hired increase. But try not to boast yourself or your objectives as this gives a negative impression.
    • Prioritise your content: Try to focus and give emphasis on your special achievements so as these things are considered first. Keep your achievements mentioned at the top.
    • Last, but not least. As Ramit Sethi says “50-60% of the words are not at all required”. Make sure that every single word on your resume earns its place.
    • Canva.com is 1 place I would recommend to create visually appealing resumes
    • Sometimes, the recruiter you apply to gets bombarded with 50-60 resumes a day & making sure than your resume stands out is the most effective way of getting shortlisted. No recruiter ever thinks  “Hey, look this resume looks different!! Let’s reject it”

    Resume formatting TIPS & tricks

    • Choose the basic font: Before writing the resumes choose the correct format. One should avoid going for stylish fonts and characters. The resume looks best when it is in the basic format and style.
    • Include all your contact details: While making a resume you should try and mention all your contact details especially phone numbers, so that the company can get into touch with you as smoothly and quickly as possible. Your complete address should be mentioned including your zip code.
    • Choose the correct type of resume: Based on your need and job profile try and choose the best resume format to apply. Depending on your circumstances you can choose a chronological, functional, combination, or a targeted resume. Take the time to write your resume.
    • Try and go for templates: Try to use a resume template to prepare your resume incorrect format. You can afterward customize the resume to your required format. You can check out some free resume making websites for your convenience
    • Avoid Copying: There is nothing more boring for Recruiters than to find similar resumes. Try to intrigue recruiters’ interest when he reads through your resume. Avoid copying someone else’s and making changes to it. Rather go for typing your resume yourself as this helps you make the required changes and you will never leave any unedited part behind. This also helps you recall what all is there in your resume as this is the part from where the interviewers ask the most questions from.
    • Resume Format: PDF resumes are most professional while submitting a resume over an email OR over the internet. A4 sheets are most convenient pick when submitting a resume in person.

5 things to avoid in your resume

When preparing your resume, it is important to avoid a few common mistakes that could negatively impact your chances of being considered for a job or internship. Here are some things to avoid in your resume:

    1. Inconsistent formatting: Make sure that your resume is visually appealing and easy to read by using consistent formatting, such as font size and type, headings, and margins.
    2. Grammar and spelling errors: Proofread your resume carefully to ensure that it is free of spelling and grammar errors. Even a small mistake can make you appear careless or untrustworthy.
    3. Vague or irrelevant information: Focus on including relevant and specific information on your resume, rather than listing general or vague responsibilities. Use concrete examples and quantify your achievements whenever possible.
    4. Omitting important information: Make sure to include all relevant information on your resume, including your education, work experience, and skills. If you have relevant achievements or awards, be sure to include them as well.
    5. Using a generic or unprofessional email address: Use a professional email address on your resume, rather than a personal or casual one. This could include your name or a combination of your name and a professional keyword.

Overall, it is important to present yourself in the best possible light on your resume. By avoiding these common mistakes, you can increase your chances of standing out as a strong candidate.

    Sample Resume of Vaibhav Chouhan

Key elements to note in the sample resume

    • Profile Summary and Career Objective are written under the head “Profile Summary”. Kindly note that the impact in numbers (Example: 2.5Lakh Job-seekers) speaks of genuinity and  has a positive impact on the reader. More numbers in terms of the impact the individual has had on organisations will make the resume even more attractive (Example: Number of clients onboarded, candidates placed for experience at Zigsaw, churn and growth numbers for the experience at Wooqer)
    • Testimonial Snapshots: These are individual recommendations that the resume creator has received and it serves as a wonderful reference for the reader. Although, a better idea would have been to also include the designation of the individuals who have written the recommendations.
    • Academic Background and Experience Summary: A succinct educational background and work-experience summary on the RHS provides necessary details of the individual. An AIR of 2430 in IIT JEE and an AIR of 1540 would have made the resume look better.
    • Contact Information: Contact email address, mobile number and LinkedIn profile link provide an easy access to the individual.

P.S. Zigsaw has decide to help 1 individual every week for improving their resume and provide a 1:1 consultation absolutely FREE. You can simply share this article about creating a superstar resume on LinkedIn and share an email at runika.bordia@zigsaw.in with the screenshot of your share. Our team would pick 1 individual for a personalised consultation every week

Some individuals go the extra mile and create a very creative resume for themselves. This definitely turns a lot of heads, grabs attention and in some cases even lands individuals great Jobs. Another creative resume by Aakash Neeraj Mittal grabbed a lot of attention earlier.

    Conclusion

Resume writing is also an art that helps you get what you deserve. It is the first impression of you on the employer. Always write or build up your resume with ease and using sufficient time. Never work in haste. A good resume helps you to get a good job.

10 Things You Should “Never” Do At Job Interviews !

People say to practice hundreds of aptitude questions for an interview. They say to prepare all possible HR questions you come across Google. They suggest random sites for preparation. They share interview experiencesÂ with you. They tell you what to wear and how to speak. They tell youÂ to do this or do that. But.. Nobody says about the things that you shouldn’t do. Don’t worry, here are 10 things you should never do at job interviews:

    Disability : Special Ability

Most of us know about the Olympics. But the question is, how many of us know about the Paralympics ? After getting a single bronze in Olympics, we started celebrating. But many of us don’t even know that we got 2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze in Paralympics. No matter we watched the match or not, almost everyone of us have heard about PV Sindhu winning silver and Sakshi Malik winning bronze in Olympics. But again, who knows about Devendra Jhajharia’s gold in the javelin throw or Deepa Malik’s silver in the shot put or Mariyappan Thangavelu’s gold and Varun Singh Bhati’s bronze in men’s high jump ? We haven’t even heard the name of these players. Why is it so ? What’s the reason they got less media coverage? Wait, you will get the answer very soon.
Undoubtedly, Sindhu and Sakshi played marvellously and off course, they deserved appreciation, awards and accolades. Sindhu recieved 5 cr and land from Telangana govt, 3 cr from Andhra govt, 2 cr from Delhi govt, 50 lacs from MP govt, latest SUV model from M&M and what not. Even many business men and jewellers from her state presented her gifts. Similarly, Sakshi recieved 1 cr from Delhi and Haryana govt. Delhi govt even gave promotion to his father in delhi transport corporation. Not only the government or the people, many celebrities celebrated all day on Facebook and Twitter. Sachin presented them BMW, while Salman Khan gave 1.01 lacs to both of them. Even pizza hut gave free pizzas for their namesakes and why not they truly deserve all this and even more. But why the Paralympics winners not even got the equal admiration ? If not the windfall of cash rewards like Sindhu and Sakshi, why these players didn’t get the same respect ? Why govt didn’t gave this much rewards to these people ? Why we didn’t celebrate on their victory ? PV Sindhu and Sakshi did hardwork. Similarly they also did infact more coz they are disabled. Then why are we not feeling proud of them ? Why, why and many more whys? And the only answer is: THEY ARE DISABLES.
Why disability is regarded as curse ? Why can’t we see that even after being disabled they have gone so far and we are still sitting here ? Because they are not disable, but our mentality is. Disability is nothing, every people have some special powers and they proved it.
Disability is just a special ability. Come, lets respect it.
