The GOD-mother at Zigsaw

  • She works all day, get the flexes printed at 09:00 pm, collects them at 11:00, reaches home at 12:00 only to reach office at 05:30 on a chilly winter morning. All because it is the Job Festival tomorrow.
  • She mail-merges people for a UI designer post at 02:00 am in the morning.
  • She works on a Sunday to complete the market work while everyone else (including me) is too lazy to get up.
  • Approximately 80% of the revenues that had been there in the last 4 months have been brought by her
  • She has not taken only 1 left in the last 140 days
  • She is ready to meet companies all by herself in the farthest corner of the city
  • She is willing to work when both I & Devkaran are exhausted to death.
  • She infuses positivity in the work-air. 2 people: Shibu & Shubham (out of a small team of 4) come to office only because you work here. She is 1 reason why our work-culture is the best
  • She had an offer from a very renowned (also technical) company in Udaipur at a salary that was twice of what you are paid here. You did not SWITCH
  • [Edit by Abhishek]: She buys us chocolates every day!!

Thank you #Srishti for being there for #Zigsaw. You are by far the best thing that has happened to Zigsaw to date. You are the biggest & the most important reason for it having come this far. Thank you for being there for us. Happy Women’s day!!

UDAIPUR JOB FESTIVAL: EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS IN RAJASTHAN – CASE STUDY

Are you in Udaipur? Are you a fresher in Udaipur or a professional planning to make his BIG jump?
Although Rajasthan has second-lowest unemployment rate { first being Gujarat} and leads in the lowest unemployment rate in rural areas at just 4 among a thousand. But the real problem lies here, the jobs pay you very feebly. Yes, lack of big companies and medium scale enterprises forces the youth to work in small scale industries, handicrafts, local shops, and small businesses. Wikipedia lists only four MNCs in favor of Rajasthan namely Larson & Toubro Ltd, Grasim Industries Ltd, Parle Biscuits Ltd, and NBC Bearings. The land of kings just fails to offer good quality white-collar jobs to its residents.
The Rajasthan govt has taken certain steps to ensure that the youth don’t drown in the sea of unemployment, for eg recently an unemployment allowance scheme has been aired where the unemployed will get Rs 500 per month by the govt. This scheme looks like a joke because what is the value of Rs 500 in the present generation. Another scheme or rather a start-up scheme has been launched to make it easy for the people to generate jobs in Rajasthan.
Rajasthan is not short of talented young blood, not at all when there are educational hubs like KOTA and premier institutes like NIT Jaipur and IIM Udaipur.
Though there are some startups that have surfaced on the land of kings for eg our very own Zigsaw in Udaipur, here the problem is that they hire professionals from other states, the main reason is the lack of trust in local youngsters. Something needs to be done to make the start-ups, existing firms, and the upcoming companies aware of the underrated talent of Rajasthan. Something needs to be done to make the job generators meet the job seekers. Somebody needs to take the initiative. And here Zigsaw consultancy services come into the picture, why because it has taken a step to curb this problem of India.
Zigsaw plans to organize a job festival across all the potential cities in India. Udaipur being the first in the series, because Zigsaw aims to first aims to improve the job condition of its abode ie Udaipur. This job festival invites every job seeker, every job generator, and every company that seeks visibility and branding among a large mass of people in the form of sponsorship. This is the platform for the individuals to showcase their talents among a variety of start-ups and medium scale companies. This is the portal for the companies to meet the talent pool of Udaipur and hire the best in business.
I on behalf of Zigsaw invite all of you to this potential magnum opus of Udaipur because of its gonna rain with jobs.
One place, one day, one initiative comes and joins us at Udaipur Job Fest.

The Zigsaw Analogy – Kite festival v/s Job festival

Its gonna be a game. Get immersed in it!
In this era of cut-throat competition, only the fittest survive. The preceding statement is too appropriate for the present unemployment conditions of India. The job to population ratio is a mere 52% in India compared to 74% in the USA.
You might be wondering why the reference of kite festival is given in in title. Here in this article. I am going to find analogies between the Kite festival and Job festival.
First of all, a brief intro of the kite festival popularly known as Uttrayan in Gujarat. Thousands of kites color the sky and people compete to become the unrivaled emperor of the sky. Beware, Zeus!
A Job fest largely resembles a fair where a swarm of job seekers assembles to fight it out for job opportunities. Everything happens in a day or two and under only one roof/sky.
Now, let’s start the game!
First, some assumptions will be useful in finding analogies. Assume the person flying the kite to be a JOB SEEKER { two types experts and amateurs}, Assume the thread/Manja {glassed} used to fly the kite as one RESUME, the stronger it is the better is one’s chance of surviving. But obviously you can’t rely on the Manja alone to keep surviving, your own skills to matter here. Assume the spool/Phirki holder to be an ADVISOR or the person who is indirectly responsible for your job or one who steers you to the job.
If you are a WWE fan, you might have seen some matches named Royal rumble, where 20 wrestlers fight in one ring and knock themselves out of the ring to be the last man standing. The same concept applies here in these cases, the ultimate aim is to compete with all and emerge as the victor.
Let me point one similarity. Those who love kite flying might be knowing but for others, I will explain. When you enter the duel with other kites, you trust more on your skills rather then your manja if you are a professional. Amateurs tend to rely heavily on Manja. The technique is what matters in a duel. The same thing goes with jobs, a strong resume isn’t enough to fetch it, the way to sell your skills to the employer becomes the deciding factor there.
Sometimes the competitors enter a duel but leave it. There can be two reasons- 1} He doesn’t find the other person worthy for the fight or 2} He doesn’t find himself strong enough for the fight. Similarly one may reject the company because he doesn’t find it worthy of his experience or because he doesn’t find himself competent for the job.
There several unethical ways which people use in a Kite Festival. For example cold-blooding cutting { when your opponent isn’t prepared for your attack}, double destruction { when you lay waste to both the kites by mostly grounding them}, super glassed Manja or the killer Manja known to kill birds and even people, use of scissors { if the person adjacent to you is troubling you}. Let us develop an analogy for jobs. Jobs can be fetched by the use of one’s Contacts, having contacts is a must for a corporate individual but using them prior to the job fest is unfair, which can be termed as job-fixing. One can use recommendation { maybe fake }. One can sabotage the stronger contenders’ efforts. Some people get their CV prepared by a third party, see super glass Manja.
The phirki holder plays a significant role in kite flying, he becomes an adviser, analyzer, or sometimes takes control in his hands. This can be compared to the person who advises the individuals going for a job fest, he can be a consultant, mentor, or friend.
Generally, the atmosphere in a Jobfest is tense and grey. People are trying to give their best in every interview, they must be alert and quick. Even they know that one wrong move/word may reverse the odds in favor. This time I leave the analogy up to you, even you should play the game.
In a kite festival, a person should be careful to not engage in a duel with a kite who has already eliminated many kites. Similarly, you should choose the companies where you wish to sit very wisely because it is not possible to give an interview for each and every company present at the Fest. Don’t go behind the crowd, who knows you would have left a way that was only made for you.
Let us end the game here but before that a few words about the Job festivals organized by Zigsaw.
Zigsaw aims to bring the job seekers and the job generators closer by saving their time, money, and hours of job searching.
Zigsaw’s maiden job festival is going to be organized in Udaipur, this 14th of Feb, if you live in a significant radius, contact us.
A series of jobs festivals will be conducted across the country, stay tuned to our Facebook page and website because who knows if the next one is your city.

Team-Z eliminates Jaish-e-mohammed’s chief Maulana Masood Azhar

In a surprise turn of events, Jaish-e-Mohammed’s Chief Maulana Masood Azhar was eliminated by an unknown group of members. A relatively unknown group, Team-Z has claimed responsibility for these events The group is believed to have infiltrated one of Jaish-e-Mohammad training camp in the valley. The Indian embassy has denied any involvement in operation paper boat which was first speculated as a reaction to the operation Pathankot. This action seems to have been inspired by Naseeruddin shah’s starrer “Wednesday” where a common man decides to give terrorists a taste of their own medicine.

Pakistani Army Chief General Raheel Sharif & ISI chief Lieutenant-General Rizwan Akhter see this as a bold step by India and are yet to come out with an official statement. Surprisingly, Pakistani media is running this news with the utmost responsibility to ensure that peace is continued in the area. This effort of responsible journalism has been appreciated from all around the world especially when seen in high contrast with the insensitivity of Indian media in the recent Pathankot operation. Pakistani Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif had congratulated Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi for the successful operation 2 hours before the operation actually took place. He later apologized for sleep-calling the Indian Embassy. This operation is met with celebration in Pakistan since they believe that this would re-rail the peace talks between the 2 countries. Also, Lashkar-e-table was ecstatic at the news since it would now have the undivided attention of the Intelligence Bureau (IB). Meanwhile, Omar Abdullah from J&K has maintained his double standards by arguing that these events raise fingers at the safety of the public. Strangely, this was after the Pakistani Media channels confirmed that no one except Jaish-e-Mohammed’s chief was harmed. Meanwhile, Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh was surprised at operation, more so on how a small group of people was able to execute this highly coveted operation which even the best intelligence services would fear to plan.
P.S. The above article is not something that has actually happened but something that a common Indian man would want to happen
Let us take a minute and remember and salute the Pathankot martyrs who selflessly laid their lives to defend us. Team Zigsaw salutes the martyrs of Pathankot. Mother India is proud of you.

Zigsaw-Internship-Festival-for-hiring-Design-Interns

Passion is a Graphic Designer’s Inspiration
To make it interesting let’s have a Q.A format.
What is a Graphics Design?
Graphics Design is an art planning and projecting ideas in the form of visual and textual content. It primarily includes designing posters, logos, brochures, banners, memes, comics, etc.
What are the tools of Graphics Design?
The standard tools of graphics design include Adobe Photoshop, illustrator, after effects, etc. but this software is quite expensive unless you have pirated ones. But don’t worry, there are open source clones like Gimp, Scribus, Inkspace which are more than enough for beginners. But remember you need a pen and a sketchpad to plan before you start designing.
How to become a successful graphics designer?
Here I would like to share another quote with you Design is intelligence made visible This quote actually defines graphics design. The ability to present your visualization and imagination in a graphical way is the foundation of graphic design. Secondly, your design must be visually appealing, attractive, and lucrative. To ensure this you see whether your design conveys the information, whether your design has the appropriate color combination and contrast, whether your words are visible or not, whether your images are getting pixelized or not. As it is said, Too many cooks spoil the broth keep in mind that too many colors and visual effects ruin your design. Obviously no design is perfect, so an almost perfect design needs a thorough inspection of every corner of your design. Here we see that patience is one more skill that a good graphics designer should possess. Don’t blindly follow trends and copy the ideas from the existing designs, this might leave some great ideas from your quiver.
What if people don’t like my design?
Sometimes it is possible that to save yourself from criticism, you try to make defensive designs, this habit generally backfires, and your design doesn’t appeal to people. In my personal opinion if you have a chance to create something extra-ordinary, why be satisfied with the ordinary design. Let your design be exposed to ideas, let it undergo all experiments and after all, it is not necessary that if some people don’t like your design others won’t like it too. Have confidence in your work and keep practicing, because behind every successful graphics designer there are many sleepless nights of hard work. A simple hack I would like to share, before finally launching your design, show it to your friends, if they like it then well and good, if not then try something else or improve the same.
What if I find graphics design boring?
Don’t design for the sake of designing, do it because you love it. Design is a passion not a burden, designers while designing tend to become insensate having nothing to do with the physical world. They don’t even know about the time despite it being in the bottom right corner of their laptops.
What is my future in graphics designing?
Designers can find themselves with a no of titles. They can design for a start-up, helping them in advertisement, social media, logo etc. You can work at freelance doing work on contract basis. You can later become the chief designer or the design head at senior positions in a company.
Finally, I would like to conclude with the line – Design because you love to!

Zigsaw-Internship-Festival-content-writing-interns

Content writers are professional writers who produce engaging content for use over the internet. Content writers produce the content for many different types of websites including blogs, social networks, e-commerce sites, news aggregators, etc.
Every website has a specific target audience &requires different types of content. The content should contain words that help attract as well as retain users on the website.
For being successful, content writers must master different writing styles. The reason for this is that each form of writing has its own style. Blogging is often opinion-oriented &personable while an Ad-copy is short &persuasive. For being able to cater to different requirements, content writers must possess a mastery of different writing skills.
For being successful in content writing one must be original. Each &every article or post bearing your name must be original. Being original helps one bring a unique voice, a different perspective, or throw new light on some overworked subject. Plagiarized content puts your career & the reputation of your client /employer in jeopardy.
The key to success is to keep yours to keep your content valuable and relevant while ensuring that it is concise and to the point. Also checking and rechecking for grammar & spelling errors is very important. Nothing looks more unprofessional than a website having grammar & spelling errors.
Follow an inverted pyramid method i.e. put your conclusion at the beginning of your content & work backward from there. This puts your most important information front &center.
Use a conversational tone to connect with your audience and avoid using marketing and technical jargon as far as possible. This is essential for connecting with your audience in a better manner and help to engage them with your content.
Use relevant images to complement the text and enhance the visual appearance for your content.
Always remember nothing engages your audience than high-quality original content with a unique perspective.
So folks put your thinking caps on & get going in your quest to be successful content writers.

Swim-across-internship-before-you-job

In the present era if we talk about internships; they are not just a matter of choice but somehow they are becoming an integral part of the academic curriculum. Because getting a degree is going to help one get a job. But getting internships is going make one stand out of the crowd. And who doesn’t want to become an outstanding candidate? So let’s begin with the root question that why is internship necessary. Imagine a scenario where one is taught all about swimming and never allowed to practice it. What happens in such a situation when one is directly exposed to swim in the sea? Either of the two things is going to happen- a.) Start with baby steps, practice at the shore, and then when one feels that he/she is ready to explore the depth of sea they should swim till the farthest they can reach. b.) Dive straightaway in the sea. If the waves favor one will get through else signal for the lifeboat and quit it.
Evaluating both the situations it can be seen that the former situation demands a great amount of time whereas the latter one kind of shatters our hope. Neither of them is giving an optimized solution. Now just rewind the situation and consider that while being taught about swimming one is timely exposed to pools for a short duration of time to implement all that one has been taught. By doing this one can avoid the risk of taking baby steps as well as need to call the lifeboat.
Internships are the small pools that can help one to survive the sea of full-time jobs.
The example stated would have made it very clear that what is the evidence of internship in the contemporary world. Apart from it, a few more benefits that it can provide areas-
* An edge over all the peers.
* An impressive resume.
* Exposure to the real-world scenario
* Familiarity with the corporate culture
* A sense of the kind of future one wants for oneself.
* Providing a better view of the future requirements.
These are a few of the many benefits which can be sought from internships. Else for the right candidate ‘sky is the limit’.
Looking for meaningful internships?

Women in India will never be equal to men

Hello Ma’am, we liked your profile and you have been selected for the XYZ internship you had applied ohhh!!!! That’s great, so how do we proceed now
We have arranged everything for you at the location when will you be able to join us?
oh no!!! I am afraid I can’t relocate. I won’t get the permission.
And this is how one more dream came to dust. Sincerely, girls, I hope all of the feminine society could relate to this. There have always been issues family issues, relocation issues, security issues, etc keeping you away from the job you have always dreamt of and always worked hard for. And why is that? Because you have not been in charge of what you want. Always there has to be a compromise for one or the other reason. Ladies, time for you to take charge. Time for you to decide what you want, what you want to become, where you won’t go in life. It is a well talked about a topic where equality of genders is firmly advocated by all. But how well is it being worked upon? By doing some protest? By following some videos? Or by any other stunt which catches the attention of social media but has nothing on you? SO here is what Indian men have to tell you. An open letter-
Dear Girls,
We have been unfair to you, since forever. But have you ever thought why? Because you gave someone else the charge to look after you, to take decisions on your behalf. It is going to sound so Gandhi but Be the change you want to see.

It is well said that we should respect girls. On the other hand, it is also true that respect is to be earned. We are not saying that you don’t deserve it, you deserve all the respect and love in this world. It’s just the time to take a stand for it. Don’t accept what you don’t want and don’t let go of what you really want. Take your own call, take your responsibility, and remember this does not come under the category of defying or disobeying anybody. In the end, we only regret the chances we did not take. Don’t regret ladies. Just Don’t.
Yours truly,
Indian Men.

Al-qaeda-recruiting-engineers

In a conference that concluded at Abudhabi recently, Al-Qaeda’s board of directors unanimously decided to bring in more diversity in terms of non-muslim recruits. This is taken as a very positive move towards growth and is suspected to have been inspired by the Tata’s Diversity & Inclusion initiative. Meanwhile, Patels and Grujars have decided to join hands and asked for an 8.33% reservation in Al-Qaeda. The Al-Qaeda chief also agreed that it would be wise to hire engineers which can come at better ROIs due to widespread unemployment amongst them. Moreover, he also looked positive in raising the 341th round of funding to burn cash faster than some of the biggest names of the Indian start-up sector. He also added that Lalu’s win in Bihar is heralding the Ache Din for its plan to disrupt growth in India.

In line with their aggressive hiring plans to push projects, they have decided to partner with an exponentially growing recruitment start-up in India: Zigsaw. Also, note that you can also refer this opportunity to a friend/family and win a referral incentive of 5k on successful referrals.
Business Development Manager: Coordination with ground forces to understand their requirement and communicate the same to the Engineering Division. Also, to capture continuous feedback from existing territories of dominance and ensure sustainable growth. To also be on the constant look-out for growth avenues

Zigsaw looking for Winter Interns

What lies ahead? What we are coming up with
Recruitment has been a complex problem in the 20th century. With our entry in the start-up era, both employees and organizations have become more dynamic in nature which has even complicated it even more. We are not scared to say that all those who have tried this space earlier have failed and yet we are confident of our efforts. Be it the Job Portals or Placement Consultants, both have not been able to solve the basic case of recruitment i.e. a) Easy Job search for Job seekers b) Best Fit candidates for the employers
We are approaching this from an analytical perspective and are trying to measure things in numbers that have only been measured in adjectives up till now. We are secretive about what we are working on and you can expect yourself to be surprised in March
If your dreams do not scare you, they are not big enough. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf
Word of Caution: Don’t apply for this internship if you are just looking for a certificate because let me tell you we would be working our asses off. It would be difficult, mentally stimulating, and a month of sheer madness!!
Another reason to do this internship: Google Udaipur
Nothing in the world is worth having or worth doing unless it means effort, pain, difficulty. I have never in my life envied a human being who led an easy life. I have envied a great many people who led difficult lives and led them well: Theodore Roosevelt

Go BIG this winter

Hey there, Greetings from Zigsaw
So, you would have read through a lot of articles that stress how can Interns bring value to your organization. How exactly?
Where can interns help you?

  • Lead Generation Interns: An average intern can generate 40 leads( estimating conservatively at 2 leads/day) for you. Even if this translates to a 10% conversion ratio, each intern can add a clientele of 4 customers to your bouquet
  • Social Media Intern: A social media savvy person will not only give a boost to your Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin campaigns but will also create original content which can do wonders to your Blog
  • SEO Intern: I don’t need to explain this, right? The only question I would ask is what is your Alexa Ranking target?
  • MIS Interns: In 21st-century data is abundant, the organization is difficult. I would assume if somebody can handle the side projects; the efficiency of your team can go up by 20%. Do you think it would be worth it?
  • Sales & Operations: You would be the best person to estimate this depending on the nature of your business and your target segment. I would assume if your current team size is 5; 3 interns can increase your operations by 20%. Do you think it would be worth a shot?

So, how fast would you like to grow in December? Write to us at vaibhav@zigsaw.in and we would like to be a part of your growth journey.
Okay, convinced. But how can Zigsaw help us with the Interns?

  • We are running an internship campaign for Winter
  • We currently have 17 partners onboard
  • We currently 4 college placement committees onboard.

What is this campaign about?

  • We are connecting Start-ups with their best-fit interns
  • This service is FREE

How would start-ups benefit from this?

  • Create momentum in sales
  • Get a Beta ready for testing/market research
  • Create a database of Potential Customers
  • Give your Social Media the outreach
  • They can test drive the talent before they actually make a hiring decision
  • Interns bring a fresh perspective to your faith (the idea)

All these advantages at

  • Almost no cost as the major concern for Interns is the learning Curve.
  • A minimum commitment of 1 month. This usually gives Start-ups the comfort to work with them as against when they are required to work with Full-time employees

Why are we doing this?

  • To kickstart our relationship with Start-ups and mesmerize you with the brand Zigsaw
  • We intend to create value for Start-ups

Yes, yes we would want to go BIG this winter. What do you need from our end for this to go through?
The confidence to make the hiring decision on your behalf. This is required as it is usually a concern for Placement Committees that 3rd parties cannot offer to join letter on the spot and we would want it to be a Win-Win situation for Placement Committees as well.
And if you are a student seeking intern, write to us at internships@zigsaw.in or register here
Do let me know your views on this Campaign. #ZigsawZindagi

Way forward for Zigsaw (Recruitment, Intern mapping and Test Algorithm)

2 weeks back, I was scared. Scared to leave my job which paid me on the 28th of every month. A week into Zigsaw, things look different and the whole credit goes to my team
Let me introduce them to you

  • Srishti: Do you have any idea how many recruitments opening a single person can handle. Meet Srishti, who has handled 8 clients ALONE. She is funny and confused at the same time, but not when it comes to closing positions. With 3 premium(12LPA) openings with us right now, I am sure she is the best person to handle this.
  • Devkaran: He will show you card-tricks and surprise you every time. He can talk to a person at 3:25 and schedule his interview at 03:30
  • Shubham: The superman who does things faster than the rest of us would ever be able to
  • Toshendra: He is our Chief momentum officer who helps us create waves with the Jobseekers
  • Anmol: He brings business and I am not sure what we would do without him

I am loving the energy here in Udaipur. It is not that the fear is gone but the confidence that my team would pick me up If I were to fall tomorrow.

Way-forward for us

  • Internship Tsunami: Devkaran. In our first year (April 2014 to May 2015), we had worked only with interns. I repeat, there were no permanent employees for the first year at Zigsaw(except August-September 2014 when we had Rajpal). I have experienced how resourceful interns can be. Also, it makes no sense to get industry veterans and pay them heftily when things are taking shape. Start-ups are about creating entropy in a tight budget. An intern can be resourceful when you would want to see an inflection in your Sales, Social Media Reach, and Google Rankings; Your core team can take it forward from there. If you are looking for Winter interns, reach out to us at support@zigsaw.in
  • Srishti would handle recruitments. Everything from sourcing, screening, and coordination would be her headache. She should have teammates in December
  • Portal: Vaibhav. There are many things that can go into this to make it intuitive & smarter. I am not saying we have reached our Eureka moment; but that we are trying and trying harder every next time. We would like to understand what is that 1 thing which when included in screening applications would change the face of Recruitment forever. We are waiting for Apple to fall.
  • Game: Vaibhav. Now, this is something people have tried time and again. We are just believing that recruitment if played with the spirit of Clash of Clans could change the way we look at recruitment.
  • Test: I think this is what you would be waiting for. After 3 beta versions, we roll out another. We are calling it for the same reason why some companies still prefer being called start-ups. It is because we believe that there is always further we can go with the Test algorithm and are open to discussions with experts about the scoring pattern. This would be a CAT preparatory adaptive test series of 3 Open Tests and we intend to cover 500 applicants through this test series.

@Team: Have I told you how good it feels when I’m with you? I feel home

Recruitment Industry have their super-heroes now

Google search of Challenges Recruitment Industry returns about 36,10,000 results

  • Job Portals like Naukri, Monster, etc. have been there for quite some time but they would never promise a successful hire
  • Recruitment Consultancies like Sutra HR & Hiring Monk have a success ratio of 60% and a cycle time of 30 days.
  • An average of 14.4 interviews is taken before an offer is rolled out. In 23% of the cases, the candidate does not join despite having been selected.

Why is this big
India’s GDP is estimated to grow by 7%. NASSCOM estimates that 3100 startups are present in India which is the 3rd largest base in the world. We are growing at 800 startups setting up annually. It believes that there would be 11500 startups employing over 250k people by 2020. At an average of 25,000 pm (for startups), this translates to a 62 crore industry assuming just 10% of people switch per year which is quite realistic keeping in mind the short employee life cycle in start-ups. There are no major players in this domain and is a rather untapped market
Who am I?
I am Vaibhav Chouhan, a graduate from IIT Guwahati(2012). Before this, I was working in the HR Dept. of Tata Power. I have worked on the idea of Zigsaw from the last 2 years, bootstrapping it every time. We started with the idea of adaptive assessments but have also moved into the “Art of Recruiting”
What do I have in for you?

A plan

  • To reduce the cycle time of recruitment to 10 days(without the notice period) including search, selection & offer
  • To facilitate the easy search of relevant candidates for Job providers
  • For Valid and reliable skill analysis
  • To facilitate informed decisions for Jobseekers
  • For reliable & relevant Job references
  • For flagging the highly professional ones(and the opposites)

So, what do I ask

  • A team of 15 people
  • 3 developers (PHP)
  • 1 designer
  • 2 UI developers
  • 3 Business Operations
  • 5 SME for specific Job profiles
  • 1 Psychometric Specialist
  • A time of 1 year
  • Funding of 25 L
  • Â Why should you trust me?
I have been experiencing recruitment(as a consultant and as an employer) for the last 1 year. Connect with me at vaibhav@zigsaw.in and let’s discuss this over.
    Want proof?
Watch us disrupt the internship business this winter.
If you can offer either of the things I am looking for, I would love to get in touch with you.
Note: If you are a start-up and would like to work with winter interns(1 month) from IITs & NITs, get in touch with us at srishti@zigsaw.in

Zigsaw launches its own Job-portal

Hi friends,
This year summer when we were working in the internship mapping domain, 2 management trainees from TAPMI strongly recommended that we need to have our own portal if we were to do intern mapping or recruitment seriously. That was May 2015. Here, in October 2015 we go LIVE with the portal of our own: Zigzobs.com
So, how does it work?

  • Go to www.zigsaw.in where you would see a girl who has just secured a Job wish you best of luck for the job you seek. There are some testimonials at the end of the page & ways to connect with us over Facebook, Twitter, Google, Linkedin & Twitter
  • Click on the Sign-up. Click on Student if you are a student seeking an internship or click on Employee if you are someone seeking a Job.
  • Enter your name, email-ID & Mobile number and verify the link that would have come to your email ID. Login to enter the world of opportunities, possibilities, and success
  • The homepage would be a dashboard which would have
  • Your applications to the Jobs you have applied & their status
  • Recommended Internships/Jobs once you have filled in your preferences
  • Edit Profile: Here you can change your contact no., update educational details, preferences & work-experience
  • Personal Details: Name & Contact No.
  • Educational Details: Degree, CV, scores
  • Preferences: You can tell us what matters most to you and your recommended internships/Jobs would be a function of what you fill here. Drag and drop Salary, Location, and Profile to communicate your relative preference for them. Also, input, what is your expected salary, preferred location & the would-like-to-work-in skill. Fill this with most honesty and you would get your most relevant internships/Jobs in your dashboard
  • Work-experience: You can boast about your work-experiences, here.
  • Apply for suitable Job openings & Bag the offer of your choice
  • Some key features include:
  • Portal can be used for both Jobs & Internships.
  • Aspirants can view recommended opportunities in their Dashboard. These recommended opportunities are based on their Skills, Location preferences & Expected Salary/Stipend.
  • Users won’t see any closed Opportunity.
  • Guest Users can browse opportunities without login but can’t apply without logging in. Login features are also available via Facebook, Gmail, or their Email Id.
  • Our Services
  • Posting on the portal is free & you can send us your requirement at support@zigsaw.in We will send some profiles to you as a token of our love for you
  • We are also into recruitment services where you can provide you end-to-end services. This obviously is priced and you can get in touch with us at anmol@zigsaw.in

Paying upfront to Placement Consultancies

Background Story: We are a placement consultancy & are always eager to partner with other recruitment firms to form business alliances which pose a win-win relationship for both of us. In this journey of ours to partner with other recruitment firms, we came across another recruitment firm. Let’s call this firm HM. We approached HM with our requirement for a specific Job Opening & they agreed to work together. Their terms were to pay upfront & we did so.

  • Apart from being there on their website, Ateeq (Co-founder of HM) had confirmed on email about the refund/replacement clause
  • The payment was made on 30th April and the same was confirmed on 1st May. The first batch was only received on 14th May
  • The candidates whose resumes were shared on 14th May had no idea about the Job Opening they had been shortlisted for
  • 15th May the partnership was called off; HM decided to process a replacement (and no refund)
  • Another Profile was shared for which we were supposed to receive a batch of candidates on 19th June which did not come and hence I wrote a mail on 24th June to the HM team about the delays from their end.
  • I get a batch of 3 candidates from them. Unsurprisingly, they had no idea about the Job- Profile, again. This time, we decided to take a stand and ask for a refund.
  • The refund was not processed. We were convinced of another replacement (and not refund) for which the JD was shared on 21st July. I talked with Ateeq on 27th July. He said he was busy and would call me back in 5 minutes. When no call/mail was received in the next 3 days, I decided to call it off. I had somehow believed that the amount would be refunded, it was not.
  • Co-founder cell was tried twice, went unanswered both the times. Finally, another mail was written on 15th Still no replies. Mail was sent to 7 IDs of HM(including the founders, co-founders, accounts, relationship managers). Still no replies.
  • Called on the co-founders’ number twice, still no response.
  • Another mail was sent on 25th Sept., still no response

Although a hire was guaranteed at the start by HM, they failed thrice. Of course, my money which should have been refunded is still with them & I don’t see them refunding it. But every failure teaches you something and here are my 2 cents for choosing a hiring Partner

  • If you are more concerned about the aspirant quality, never choose a company that boasts about the lower price it charges. James Goldsmith once said, “If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys.”
  • Understand, that nobody can ever guarantee a successful hire. Even the best companies have a hit ratio of 70-80%. Trust the companies that paint a realistic picture and give you a statistic for your successful hire. You can always trust the mathematicians.

About the company we are talking about: Their Home-page reads

Hire Handpicked Talent in 30 days, Guaranteed. They refer to themselves as Start-up Superstars. They charged upfront & never paid back for the unsuccessful hire. I think this company is non-functional now.
P.S.: The name of the firm has not been intentionally mentioned for it may seem like we are taking on a competitor.
P.P.S.: In case, somebody wants a proof of what we are saying, feel free to get in touch with me at vaibhav@zigsaw.in
The blog posts officially end here but where you find out what Zigsaw offers differently from its competitors, read on

  • We charge 7 days after the selected candidate joins. You pay ONLY IF the candidate is selected & ONLY IF he joins.
  • We have a cycle time of 15 days which is a huge advantage for companies that have an urgent requirement. Also, this is an advantage over our competitors who usually offer a 30 day cycle time.
  • We conduct the first round of screening ourselves, hence considerably reducing the effort & time you have to put in.

Feel free to get in touch with us at support@zigsaw.in or 9887890909

Avoid the divorce

What makes Google, Google?
What makes Apple, Apple?
It is usually the people, there. Hiring the right talent is important, but firing the misfits is also equally important. Particularly startups, as they cannot afford to work with anyone who is anyone less than a rock-star. A wrong hire not only eats away through your resources but also affects the morale of the whole team. Firing someone is never an easy task. It is like letting go a piece of your heart. It is like taking a divorce. Imagine this. You decided to settle down in life and hence began your search to find the perfect groom. You came across prospective seekers and examined them very carefully. There was this 1 person who stood out. You liked him from the very start. He checked all the points on your Dream Boy category. He was also equally enthusiastic about being together. Your parents did a background check and did not find anything to be worried about. You are sure he would be your soul-mate for life. He was the perfect match. You decide to tie the knot with him.
6 months into the relationship you realized that your initial assessment was wrong. You have made the wrong hire. In the next 6 months, you try to make it right. You discuss it with him about your expectations of him & what support can he seek from you. You try and motivate him, inspire him, provided the more than usual support, prepare an action plan but the relationship does not seem to improve.
You have 2 options now

  • Continuing with the mediocre, no matter if it is a liability
  • Accepting that you made a mistake and moving on. Most people find it really difficult to accept that they made the wrong hire. It takes a lot of courage. There is going to be resistance but you have to face it in its face because that is the right thing to do. You should definitely try to make it work but it should not be at the cost of your success.

Obviously, it would be the latter one. Finding a soul-mate is difficult; letting them go is even more difficult. It is like breaking away with someone; just that you do not have time to feel sad about it. You mean business and it needs to be done, no matter what.
Let us admit, hiring the best-fits is not easy. Usually, core teams like to focus on product development and hiring can sometimes be a tiresome activity. You can always go with the brute-force method, but the question is it the best way to go about your hiring requirements?
Work on your strengths and outsource your non-core activities: Carol Roth
Hire the capable, hire the willing, hire the smart, hire the hardworking: hire the best-fits who would not only take your business to the next level but also boost the morale of everyone around them. Make your next superhero hire with ZigZobs.

Let us make a difference this Independence Day

APJ Abdul Kalam dreamed of Transforming the nation into a developed country, for integrated action to double the growth rate of GDP and realize the Vision of Developed India.” This year we lost the greatest star of our times to heart attack on 27th July 2015. Even though he is not with us in the flesh, let us make sure that he is there with us in our spirits. Let us make sure that when he watches us from the sky on 15th August 2020, he smiles to see his Vision2020 come to reality.

How do I bring about change? Do you think you are too small to make a difference?
APJ believed in us when he said I firmly believe that no problem can defeat me; I will become the captain of my problem, defeat the problem and succeed
If each one of us pledges to contribute our tiniest bit to the development of our mother nation, together we can make a dent in the universe. On this, 69th Independence Day let us all make a commitment to ourselves, no matter how small.
At Zigsaw, we pledge to always be fair when mapping opportunities to aspirants
The country does not deserve anything less than success from us.
Tweet to @ZigsawZindagi with what do you #pledgetodo and what does #TotalIndependence mean to you.
Together we can, together we will change the world

INTERVIEW TODAY ??? Are You Nervous ??

I am good in coding, I am good in academics, I am good at problem-solving, my English is too good, my aptitude is good.
“Not everyone is perfect in everything….”

Many big MNC’s, government organizations have a first-round for recruitment i.e ” Aptitude round ” it just acts like a gate pass to proceed further.

Getting a gate pass is easy but the real challenge comes in a further round of face to face interviews.
Here are 5 interview questions that will help you in facing your interview :
( First thing to remember is don’t be nervous, keep a smiling face, be confident. the interviewer is not going to beat or eat you. )
1. Tell me something about you ??
This can be answered in a simple way just remember these keywords :
– Your name
– Where you are from
– Schooling & college degree in the stream
– About your family
– Your positives in a very precise way(hobbies, likes )
– Your experience
So now the answer will be like that :
Myself Ravi Kumar, I am from Udaipur, I did my schooling from st. Pauls and completed my B.tech in computer science from CTAE.
I have a small family that includes my mother, father, me, and my elder brother.
I love to read books, interact with people, love to read about new technology and I love to take challenges.
I have worked as a team leader in the XYZ company.
( You have mentioned everything about you. just remember those keywords )
2. What are your strength and weakness ??
A. Strengths: I am a good learner, dedicated to my goal, hardworking, team worker, creative, etc.
Weakness: this is a tough one but you don’t have to really tell your weakness to someone. in fact answer, this as
“I won’t feel better if I cannot complete my work within time.”
” I fell bad when someone says an incorrect English sentence ”
” I am focused on one thing at a time.
3. Why should I hire you?
A. Try to answer this question by remembering your skills, and you have to do a little buttering for the company too.
” You should hire me because I fit best for this role, I have the skills that are required for your company and it will be a great opportunity for me to showcase my skills to work for the growth of company and myself. ”
4. What is your long-range objective?
A. You can answer this in a quite simple way. ” my first objective is to work hard for the growth of the company. by this, I can eventually see my growth. I wish to be the BEST and Senior software engineer after 2 years.”
5. What is your greatest professional achievement?
A. In answering this question you have to tell your TRUE strengths, your technical skills, achievements (whether small or large ) you have to show them. don’t be fake in this question else you can directly be kicked out.
Last but important “BE TRUE IN YOUR RESUME”…never fake it.
We, at Zigsaw, are always there to help you in any way we can
