  • Attend the free #CVBanalo workshop by Zigsaw on 9th April

Your CV must speak loudly and clearly of your value as a potential employee. And the value must be spoken in a few brief seconds, because, in the business world, that’s all the attention a CV will get. The CV takes you only the first few paces toward that new job. It gets your foot in the door, and because you can’t be there to answer questions, it has to stand on its own. Martin Yate

When you sit to write a CV, the things that come to your minds are:
Simple English or Flowery language? Colored paper or white? Times Roman, Calibri, or Comic Sans? Just job title or complete description? How long? Achievements since class 2 or just the last 2?
There is so much confusion over what an ideal CV should look like and more importantly, what it should carry. These details should be stressed as you’ve probably heard the expression – First impressions are lasting ones; your CV is usually your first impression with a potential employer. Your CV has the power and authority to either make or break your chances of being invited to an interview!
Like the first date, they are the first time an employer gets to form an opinion about you the first impression can make all the difference The CV is your vital opportunity to present yourself at your best.
For competitive jobs with many applicants, a selector may only read your CV for one minute before deciding to reject or to shortlist for detailed consideration. Thus it is important to know how to put the relevant details of your entire life on a page or two.
All this is more difficult done than said. Not everyone is capable and aware of how to write a good CV. Moreover, we have very little idea about what employers want. Thus, in this highly important time for students as well as job seekers, Zigsaw Consultancy is holding a CV Banalo Workshop to help you with the skills to write an effective curriculum vitae.
Companies like Fusion, Lexis and EduWings will give you insights on what the industry expects, and then Zigsaw’s professionals will guide you to write an effective CV.

  • Jagga finds the “best-fit” criminal

It has been time that I wanted to tell you guys how we work. Let’s talk about Jagga instead. Jagga Jasoos is a professional criminal catcher. Below are some ways Jagga uses to reach the right criminals.

    • Ideally, the police stations should have the biggest database of Criminals. However, with growing digitalization, police stations have failed to keep up with the updation of the database. The friendly nature of policemen does not help either.
    • Professional connection website for criminals. Started by Mr. Lala Bhaiya, updating criminal skills & endorsing criminals is free on the platform.
    • Having been in the industry for the last 2 years, Jagga has a good database of existing criminals
    • This, another platform started by Shana Bhaiya aims to be the go-to place for revolver buying but the database is misused by Jagga Jasoos for his personal interests.
    • Search on the basis of radar card is a tough task but Jagga is determined to leave no stone unturned In her search of the right criminal
    • The diploma course in the shooting is priced at 65k for 6 months. Besides, a degree in extortion, rape, honor-killing & abduction is also provided. Strategic tie-ups help our case.
    • Advertisements are sometimes floated in Newspapers. However, these methods do not appeal much to the Generation Y of criminals which is online.
    • Most of the criminals are here & Facebook has magically cracked the code of legal extortion for leads!! What is difficult, though is reaching the right criminals.
    • Referral programs are run to reach a wider criminal database. Gone are the days when the bounty was only provided for crimes. These days, bounties are also provided for finding the criminal. Jagga is convinced that this would be the most powerful tool going forward to find the right criminals
To stay updated with Jagga’s latest expeditions, stay tuned at https://www.facebook.com/groups/jobs4udaipur/

After edit: 1 can be Employment Exchange, 2 can be Linkedin, 4 can be true, 5 is a google search and 6 is college placement cells

  • Lessons to learn from the IndoBangla Clash

Here are 10 points tailor-made for the entrepreneurs out there.

    • Sometimes, smaller players can outplay the giants. Larry Page & Surgery Bin offered to sell their algorithm to Yahoo for pennies. Believe in yourself. That is the secret. Lamborghini came into existence for Enzo Ferrari insulted a farmer. And btw, didn’t Arvind Kejriwal took on, the then mighty Sheila Dixit?
    • Albert Einstein said I did not fail 99 times, I just found out 99 ways it would not work out. I think every loss teaches us something & if we fail 99, we are bound to succeed the next time. Afterall there can only be 99 unique ways to fail. I am sure Bangladesh is learning from its mistakes & would not repeat not taking a single the next time.
    • Believe in Magic. Till then, keep connecting the dots.
    • Keep calm. Done let the noise get you. Keep your ice cool especially the situation is tight. When it gets chaotic & things start falling, it becomes all the more important to stay put.
    • Most of the good work is lost due to the lack of a little more. Make sure you finish your battles and don’t give up.
    • Greed can sometimes be blinding. The greed to win with a glamour shot got the better of Bangladesh Batsmen & they succumbed.
    • Believe in your people. Ultimately, it is people that are the core of any success story. Take that away & there is nothing left. Sometimes, some team members just need the confidence of their leader & when it happens they overperform their skills. MSD believed in Bumrah & Bumrah proved him right.
    • A true team is what comes together when everything else is falling apart. One plus one more than two goes the famous saying.
    • A leader must believe in himself, must believe in his plans. Dhoni could have made a throw and could have still have hit the stumps, but he decides not to take any chances. He decided to believe in himself. This attitude is what usually inspires a team to give their best.
    • Things can go wrong at the last step as well. One needs a combination of passion, patience & aggression. Bangladesh had enough of 1st & 3rd but it is the balance that is important.

Last but not least. Luck plays its part. Some wise men prefer to call it Karma. Be good to people & things would ultimately work out.
    Love,
    Team Zigsaw

  • At Zigsaw, we are #RevolutionizingRecruitment

A comment of Facebook can land you a job in 3 days. Don’t be surprised. Zigsaw has networked with close to 90 companies in Udaipur & intends to make difference to the Udaipur Recruitment Ecosystem. The platform is completely free for job seekers to use. Open Job positions are shared on daily basis in the Facebook group & sometimes referral incentives given for referring the right candidate.

    Challenges that we FIGHT
One of the major challenges in Udaipur is that most Jobs in Udaipur are available are filled through reference i.e. a relative of a relative usually gets the Job. Sometimes, talented & hardworking students from an average background might miss out on these opportunities. Behold, Udaipur has its hiring superheroes. We intend to create a community that is creating value for itself. To create a community that drives recruitment on its own.
    What is your #revoltionizingrecruitment
If you look closely, you will observe that Uber, the world’s largest taxi company, owns no vehicles. Facebook, the world’s most popular media owner, creates no content. Alibaba, the most valuable retailer, has no inventory. And Airbnb, the world’s largest accommodation provider, owns no real estate. We want to be the Job portal that owns no data. People refer their friends & colleagues for Job openings. This, I believe can the smartest & the fastest way of finding the right person for the Right Job
So, how is Zigzobs different from other Job portals

    • We have a product that can objectively evaluate your skills based on your self-evaluation, colleague/friend evaluation & expert evaluation
    • Our locker should be [live] by 30th This would keep all your mark sheets, experience certificate & recommendation letters at one place
    • Going forward, we intend to integrate assessments that would [again] objectively evaluate skills, just a bit better.

    So, what’s the dream?
Imagine a world, where when you need someone to do a particular Job, you reach out to a magic box. That magic box understands your requirements, quantifies it, evaluates the available options, and delivers the best results. Now, imagine all this happening in an auto-pilot mode. This magic-box is what we are creating at Zigsaw. A total platform to endorse evaluates, verify & select, all at your finger-tips. At Zigsaw, we are #RevolutinizingRecruitment

  • The GOD-mother at Zigsaw

    Let us talk about HER

    • She works till 10:00 in office, gets to home at 10:30 & works again till 12:00 because it is the last day of Naukri’s subscription
    • She works all day, get the flexes printed at 09:00 pm, collects them at 11:00, reaches home at 12:00 only to reach office at 05:30 on a chilly winter morning. All because it is the Job Festival tomorrow.
    • She mail-merges people for a UI designer post at 02:00 am in the morning.
    • She works on a Sunday to complete the market work while everyone else (including me) is too lazy to get up.
    • Approximately 80% of the revenues that had been there in the last 4 months have been brought by her
    • She has not taken only 1 left in the last 140 days
    • She is ready to meet companies all by herself in the farthest corner of the city
    • She is willing to work when both I & Devkaran are exhausted to death.

  • UDAIPUR JOB FESTIVAL: EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS IN RAJASTHAN – CASE STUDY

Are you in Udaipur? Are you a fresher in Udaipur or a professional planning to make his BIG jump?
Although Rajasthan has second-lowest unemployment rate { first being Gujarat} and leads in the lowest unemployment rate in rural areas at just 4 among a thousand. But the real problem lies here, the jobs pay you very feebly. Yes, lack of big companies and medium scale enterprises forces the youth to work in small scale industries, handicrafts, local shops, and small businesses. Wikipedia lists only four MNCs in favor of Rajasthan namely Larson & Toubro Ltd, Grasim Industries Ltd, Parle Biscuits Ltd, and NBC Bearings. The land of kings just fails to offer good quality white-collar jobs to its residents.
The Rajasthan govt has taken certain steps to ensure that the youth don’t drown in the sea of unemployment, for eg recently an unemployment allowance scheme has been aired where the unemployed will get Rs 500 per month by the govt. This scheme looks like a joke because what is the value of Rs 500 in the present generation. Another scheme or rather a start-up scheme has been launched to make it easy for the people to generate jobs in Rajasthan.
Rajasthan is not short of talented young blood, not at all when there are educational hubs like KOTA and premier institutes like NIT Jaipur and IIM Udaipur.
Though there are some startups that have surfaced on the land of kings for eg our very own Zigsaw in Udaipur, here the problem is that they hire professionals from other states, the main reason is the lack of trust in local youngsters. Something needs to be done to make the start-ups, existing firms, and the upcoming companies aware of the underrated talent of Rajasthan. Something needs to be done to make the job generators meet the job seekers. Somebody needs to take the initiative. And here Zigsaw consultancy services come into the picture, why because it has taken a step to curb this problem of India.
Zigsaw plans to organize a job festival across all the potential cities in India. Udaipur being the first in the series, because Zigsaw aims to first aims to improve the job condition of its abode ie Udaipur. This job festival invites every job seeker, every job generator, and every company that seeks visibility and branding among a large mass of people in the form of sponsorship. This is the platform for the individuals to showcase their talents among a variety of start-ups and medium scale companies. This is the portal for the companies to meet the talent pool of Udaipur and hire the best in business.
I on behalf of Zigsaw invite all of you to this potential magnum opus of Udaipur because of its gonna rain with jobs.
One place, one day, one initiative comes and joins us at Udaipur Job Fest.

  • The Zigsaw Analogy – Kite festival v/s Job festival

Its gonna be a game. Get immersed in it!
In this era of cut-throat competition, only the fittest survive. The preceding statement is too appropriate for the present unemployment conditions of India. The job to population ratio is a mere 52% in India compared to 74% in the USA.
You might be wondering why the reference of kite festival is given in in title. Here in this article. I am going to find analogies between the Kite festival and Job festival.
First of all, a brief intro of the kite festival popularly known as Uttrayan in Gujarat. Thousands of kites color the sky and people compete to become the unrivaled emperor of the sky. Beware, Zeus!
A Job fest largely resembles a fair where a swarm of job seekers assembles to fight it out for job opportunities. Everything happens in a day or two and under only one roof/sky.
    Now, let’s start the game!
First, some assumptions will be useful in finding analogies. Assume the person flying the kite to be a JOB SEEKER { two types experts and amateurs}, Assume the thread/Manja {glassed} used to fly the kite as one RESUME, the stronger it is the better is one’s chance of surviving. But obviously you can’t rely on the Manja alone to keep surviving, your own skills to matter here. Assume the spool/Phirki holder to be an ADVISOR or the person who is indirectly responsible for your job or one who steers you to the job.
If you are a WWE fan, you might have seen some matches named Royal rumble, where 20 wrestlers fight in one ring and knock themselves out of the ring to be the last man standing. The same concept applies here in these cases, the ultimate aim is to compete with all and emerge as the victor.
Let me point one similarity. Those who love kite flying might be knowing but for others, I will explain. When you enter the duel with other kites, you trust more on your skills rather then your manja if you are a professional. Amateurs tend to rely heavily on Manja. The technique is what matters in a duel. The same thing goes with jobs, a strong resume isn’t enough to fetch it, the way to sell your skills to the employer becomes the deciding factor there.
Sometimes the competitors enter a duel but leave it. There can be two reasons- 1} He doesn’t find the other person worthy for the fight or 2} He doesn’t find himself strong enough for the fight. Similarly one may reject the company because he doesn’t find it worthy of his experience or because he doesn’t find himself competent for the job.
There several unethical ways which people use in a Kite Festival. For example cold-blooding cutting { when your opponent isn’t prepared for your attack}, double destruction { when you lay waste to both the kites by mostly grounding them}, super glassed Manja or the killer Manja known to kill birds and even people, use of scissors { if the person adjacent to you is troubling you}. Let us develop an analogy for jobs. Jobs can be fetched by the use of one’s Contacts, having contacts is a must for a corporate individual but using them prior to the job fest is unfair, which can be termed as job-fixing. One can use recommendation { maybe fake }. One can sabotage the stronger contenders’ efforts. Some people get their CV prepared by a third party, see super glass Manja.
The phirki holder plays a significant role in kite flying, he becomes an adviser, analyzer, or sometimes takes control in his hands. This can be compared to the person who advises the individuals going for a job fest, he can be a consultant, mentor, or friend.
Generally, the atmosphere in a Jobfest is tense and grey. People are trying to give their best in every interview, they must be alert and quick. Even they know that one wrong move/word may reverse the odds in favor. This time I leave the analogy up to you, even you should play the game.
In a kite festival, a person should be careful to not engage in a duel with a kite who has already eliminated many kites. Similarly, you should choose the companies where you wish to sit very wisely because it is not possible to give an interview for each and every company present at the Fest. Don’t go behind the crowd, who knows you would have left a way that was only made for you.
Let us end the game here but before that a few words about the Job festivals organized by Zigsaw.
Zigsaw aims to bring the job seekers and the job generators closer by saving their time, money, and hours of job searching.
Zigsaw’s maiden job festival is going to be organized in Udaipur, this 14th of Feb, if you live in a significant radius, contact us.
A series of jobs festivals will be conducted across the country, stay tuned to our Facebook page and website because who knows if the next one is your city.
