They clearly proved that “you don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.” They smashed, punched, vaulted on the face of people like Omar Qureshi and Shobha De and make the country proud. After a long painful wait for a medal, these girls have shown their real power and brought laurels to the country.
P.V Sindhu, a 21 years old girl not only entered the badminton’s finals in Olympic but also created history. She won silver, not gold but the more preciously the hearts of billions. Her sweat paid off, she will be remembered for years and had already become a role model and inspiration for many.
Another lady, from a small place with big dreams, Sakshi Malik brought the first medal for India in Rio. She secured bronze in Wrestling and encouraged other fellow players. She rejuvenated the spirit and determination of the other Indian players.
Besides these two medal winners, many other women showed their glory at the Olympics. From Gymnast Dipa Karmarkar to Golf player Aditi Ashok, from Hockey player Vandana Katariya to Athlete Dutee Chand and many other Indian women played well at Rio Olympics. They marked the start of their journey and have a long way to go. Golden players of all time Sania Mirza and Saina Nehwal missed the luck but still have the same courage and determination to fight back. The performances of all these powerful women were about passion, grit, and hard work. And they have truly inspired many.
“In this world, there is no strength equal to Women Determination.” And they proved it. Their determination is the wake-up call for those who are still the victim of discrimination, prejudices, and stereotyping. Wake up girls, the country needs you. And the call for the action is breaking the stereotypes. Don’t be afraid if things seem to be difficult in the beginning. Just don’t stop. Don’t stop if it hurts, stop when you are done!
